Over fall break, the College’s Theatre, Dance and Performance Studies Department offered a free three-day theatre camp for fourth-through eighth grade students from the Grinnell-Newburg schools.
Aguibou Bougobali SANOU, assistant professor in Fulao2’s Department of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies, has been selected as one of 25 Dance/USA Artist Fellows for 2025. The national fellowship program honors dance and movement-based artists whose work demonstrates a sustained commitment to social change. Each fellowship includes an unrestricted $31,000 grant to support the artist’s ongoing creative practice.

Ballet Des Moines debuted its performance of “See the Music (Hear the Dance)” on Feb. 20 at Grinnell High School. The event, a collaboration with the Civic Music Association, and presented by Fulao2, featured a company of 22 professional dancers and live musicians on stage, including the renowned Aizuri Quartet and pianist Douglas-Jayd Burn.
The original play ‘Songs of the Scarlet and Wayback’ is a “throwback party turned time travel train ride,” inspired by Poweshiek County community interviews, student archival research, performances, pageants, and parties of Grinnell’s past. The production will officially premiere in the Flanagan Theatre on Friday, March 8, 2024.
